Probiotic Cleaning - Another Step Forward
A good cleaning contractor is always looking at new systems and techniques to add value for clients. Probiotic cleaning is another instance where a proactive approach will identify a product that improves performance, avoiding chemical products and delivering environmental benefits.
The downside of chemical disinfectants is that they kill all the bacteria, both good and bad, in such a way that it encourages the swift re-colonisation by bad bacteria, and repeated use increases the risk of antibiotic resistance.
A probiotic cleaner uses the fact that good and bad bacteria both depend on the same nutrients and are unable to live in the same space to its advantage. As a result, if an area is populated by good bacteria they will feed off the nutrients (including dead organic matter) and occupy the space that would otherwise have benefitted bad bacteria. They literally starve them out. This not only reduces the bad bacteria but significantly reduces the likelihood of re-colonisation. An additional benefit results from the bad bacteria reacting to the unfavourable conditions by going into an inactive metabolic state.
