Temco Services was nominated for Employer of the Year Award in this year’s London West Learning and Skills Council Champions of Learning Awards and was delighted when the judges gave them a Highly Commended honour.
The awards recognise and reward excellence in training and development. They are aimed at employers, teachers and trainers, who are making a difference through learning, training and development, and all learners who are exceeding expectations.
The Council gave formal recognition to the development of the skills of its 55 employees at its Kodak site in Harrow.
These included the accreditation of Temco staff with "Passports to Success", a scheme that encourages a more pro-active, professional behaviour and attitude to the job.
A number of Temco supervisors and team leaders gained qualifications from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) while Temco Managing Director Andrew Philpot successfully completed a two-week course operated by the National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH). Also earning recognition was Temco site administrator Simon Beltrame who gained his International Computer "driving licence" from the British Computer Society.
"This is very gratifying,” says Andrew Philpot, Temco’s UK Managing Director, “Releasing the untapped potential of our staff is central to our ability to achieve outstanding results. We find that we get more from staff by respecting their ability. We train, equip and motivate them, giving them ownership of their work. As a result, our clients benefit from cleaning professionals who take genuine pride in their work, who demonstrate initiative and flexibility, and actively seek opportunities to excel.”
